What to bring

Compulsory check in is 9am to 11am Tuesday 14 February 2023.  Orientation week commences 9.00amTuesday 14 February 2023. International early arrivals (not before 8.30am Tuesday 14 February 2023) please email the Halls ([email protected]) for arrangements.

You are advised to bring:

  • Bed linen: at least 2 sheets (king single), pillow(s) & pillowslip(s), blankets, quilt or doona
  • Towels (bath and beach towel)
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc)
  • Any regular prescription medications that you use, prescriptions for medication
  • Laptop, tablet or desktop computer, network cable
  • Headphones
  • Powerboard with individual safety switches (must be Australian certified and have surge protection)
  • Laundry basket, washing detergent and clothes pegs
  • Clothes hangers
  • Personal ID, your own Medicare card, health care card, private health insurance card or details
  • Any university documents and any other important paperwork you may need
  • A coffee/tea cup and some minor crockery/cutlery items for your room (No crockery or cutlery is to be removed from the dining hall)

Your room is provided with:

  • Bed (incl. mattress)
  • Mattress protector
  • Study desk
  • Study chair
  • Wardrobe and mirror
  • Internet access

You may wish to bring:

  • Small refrigerator (bar fridge size less than 140 litre – under desk height 740mm)
    – can be purchased and delivered from Gatton Betta Home Living
  • Free standing reading lamp
  • Musical instruments
  • Portable fan (for summer)
  • Alarm clock
  • Sports equip, golf clubs, etc.
  • Potted plants with drip trays
  • Non-offensive posters (to be attached with Blu Tac only NO yellow tac)
  • Bicycle with helmet and suitable locking device

Computers

The Halls have wireless and network cable connectivity.

Electrical Items

All items that can be plugged into a power point must be checked and a dated tag attached to each item before you bring them to Halls (test & tag). This includes those still under a warranty period.

PRIVATE AIR-CONDITIONING UNITS AND EVAPORATIVE UNITS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BE USED or FITTED TO YOUR ROOMS

You may NOT bring

  • Your own bed /couch or daybed
  • Private air-conditioning units
  • Evaporative air units
  • Candles, incense or oil burners
  • Pets (excepting fish in a small bowl)
  • Knives (including Swiss Army knives)
  • Firearms or other weapons
  • Fireworks or explosives
  • Any unlawful substance
