What services are available at UQ Res?
UQ Res is for students wanting more independence. For that reason, students will cook, clean or do their own laundry.
For cooking, each residential floor will have a shared break out space for smaller snacks, making cups of tea and coffee etc. There is also a microwave on each floor. In addition, there is a large gourmet communal kitchen on the ground floor for larger meals that can accommodate multiple students at once. The kitchen includes lockers to keep cooking equipment and separate dry pantries, and lockable fridge and freezer drawers for food storage. Kitchen packs containing pots, pans and so on are available to buy.
Your rent includes cleaning of shared spaces, but private rooms are the responsibility of each student. Cleaning extras will be available to purchase. Laundry costs $5 per wash and $5 per dryer. Linen packs will also be available for purchase during your booking or via Booking Portal after your booking.
What amenities are available?
What amenities aren’t available? UQ Res takes student accommodation to a new level. The first UQ Res building at Kev Carmody House will include multiple common areas, including living rooms, games rooms, gardens, a gym, makerspace and even a rooftop pool! What’s the difference between living at UQ Res and living at a college?
While both options are located on campus and are great options when adjusting to uni-life, there are a few differences.
At UQ Res, each student will have their own bedroom with an ensuite. In addition, residents have access to a gourmet communal kitchen other common areas (including games rooms, outdoor dining, cinemas, podcast studios, gyms and rooftop pool deck). Being self-catered, UQ Res is ideal for students wanting a little more independence.
What does UQ Res cost?
Living at UQ Res starts at $299 per week for a standard room on a 12-month contract. A superior room offers more space for $329 per week. Six-month contracts are also available – simply add $30 per week to the above pricing. These prices include all bills (including WiFi) and access to the incredible shared amenities.
Is there parking?
UQ Res does not offer on-site car parking facilities. Fortunately, the St Lucia campus has excellent public transport links by both bus and ferry.
Are there accessibility features?
UQ Res has rooms with wheelchair and other physical disability access available at no extra cost. There are also hearing augmentation and vision impairment rooms available, also at no additional charge. Common areas, including the kitchen and laundry facilities, have also been designed with accessibility in mind.
